"Cook up a storm" is set in China, where Gao Tian Ci is the head chef of a restaurant "Seven", which his "teacher" owns, which was previously owned by his dad. The rivalry begins when Paul, a renowned chef, from France, sets up his restaurant right beside Tian Ci's. The story starts off on a grounded note and stays so, until the "World cooking competition" begins and Tian Ci and Paul are up against each other! The representation of food and the way it is prepared, is something to note/appreciate about throughout this movie. The escalation of the storyline is smooth, intensifies only because you connect with the characters and the plot, rather than "exaggeration" which is very minimal, at certain points. The friction between Tian Ci and Paul, soon turns into friendship, but sooner than later, the audience realise that, this was just one of the "sub plots" and the main, is yet to arrive towards the brilliant climax. The background score, towards the end, was a treat with that particular scene, bringing back the memories of a certain character. Overall, Cook up a storm represents brilliance through the acting performances, through it's grounded nature and of course, through the food!
