This book is a clear and concise description of what racism is! People who are afraid that it is inappropriate for young children, in my opinion, have not yet dealt with their own biases and don’t give young children the credit of their full capacities. If you read this book to a child and they ask why the white boy was mean, then you explain that there was a time where children were taught to be mean based on what people looked like and now we are teaching kids to get to know who people are besides their visible differences! I also enjoyed it because it tells a part of Hispanic history and their contribution to equity! Wonderful book!
