The first three seasons with Jessica Lange are pretty good. Lady GaGa does her thing with wigs and weird costumes in season four. She’s certainly welcome. There’s a staggering number of strange characters like the clown and the guy with lobster claws played by Evan Peters. There’s an incredible amount of imagination in this show but not much narrative sense. Actors appear throughout in different parts. In the end the show is exhausting.

This movie cost $200 million to make. Apart from some arresting imagery it is a bore. It contains inside jokes on Marvel Superheroes like X Men; weirdly it makes fun of Disney which recently purchased Twentieth Century Fox. As the credits role it seems a dumbfounding number of people contributed to the film. Must be in the thousands. Like films in other genres for example Scream 3 and Joker it is self reverential. I guess this is how the filmmakers hold up their heads up when making this junk.
