This is not a movie. This is not a documentary. It is a biography: a biography of an astoundingly interesting and influential black man born in the 1930's and succeeding through some of the most turbulent times for black people in U.S. history. Not only did he succeed but he brought others (regardless of skin color) along for the ride.
I was impressed by this story and all the people Clarence touched and brought together. I have to re-watch this. There are so many different facets.
The music, the people, the politics, the money, the companies and the influence are difficult to fully understand how Clarence was able to do all this. The bio-pic does a good job of explaining what he did but it doesn't give away his secret sauce... To be fair, I don't think that could be given away.
