I’m on season 1 episode 4. The plot develops quickly which I like, but overall it’s terribly written. I think Raymond Reddington could’ve just been another CIA agent or something, writing him as a criminal compromises Elizabeth’s character a lot. No agent in their right mind would take direction from a criminal so blindly, let alone direct their entire team to listen to them. Also seeing that she had zero FBI experience, I highly doubt the FBI would have let her take so much responsibility on the first day of the job, again, bad writing. If they had taken their time to work the plot up to this, such as the agents being more suspicious and Reddington develops their trust SLOWLY - it would’ve been more believable. The agents take all their direction from a random criminal and no one questions it. Ridiculous! The writers could’ve also developed the criminals better, rather than introducing and revealing them in the same episode - take time! Good writing occurs gradually so the audience doesn’t notice the changes. The transitions are just too obvious, the characters aren’t developed enough and the details for crime scenes are missing. Still watching as there isn’t many other options at the moment.
