I SELDOM give ANYTHING a rating so high but "Wonka" TRULY DOES deserve this rating AND a SWEEP of the Oscars as well!!! When I went, there were children of mixed ages in the theater as well as adults and everybody is WELL AWARE of the "fussy child"; the "crying child"; and the "child who talks loudly" ...but while this DELIGHTFULLY COLORFUL movie of mystique and magical whims mesmerized ALL in the theater as it continued from beginning to end, it brought about a style of hope that Hollywood can INDEED still make movies so MAGNIFICENT....complete with musical numbers that will be sung by children WELL AFTER they have left the theater and not a SINGLE child blurted out during this viewing!!! There was even one little girl who mentioned to her Mommy, "I was a GOOD little girl, huh Mommy?" ONE of the groups of children (I say "groups" because there were TEN of them.) had only three chaperones with them and not a single one ruined my showing. This movie is DESERVING to be classified with the likes of "Mary Poppins" and ""The Music Man"!!!! Hollywood has gotten AWAY from movies so colorful but even the night scenes were shot with an air of magical style and clarity that one forgets it was shot AT night!!!!
