Overall Very Generic for a superhero film especially for a heroes first film. In this review I will point out the positives and the negatives and my conclusion in full. Positives: . The acting was excellent ESPECIALLY from Bruna Reis Maia, and Belissa Escobedo. This made for a great viewing experience during the more emotional scenes. . The family dynamic depicted was great to see, I really appreciated the authenticity of the Mexican family particularly their strong family bond and how resilient they are. . A decent amount of detail was shown for such a short film. Negatives. The plot was SO GENERIC seriously just look at any other superhero’s first film and you will see many similarities I will point out some of them . The character was an underdog . He somehow comes across his super power mostly by an encounter with someone of great power and importance. . He is shocked and extremely terrified by his new abilities. . He is uncomfortable and tries to hold back his powers. . He encounters the villain gets hurt in a fight he loses and then recovers. Or has something terrible happen to him and the movie shows his low point and recovery. Sometimes both these events happen .He recovers fights the villain almost loses then wins arbitrarily .Happy ending Blue beetle follows this plot every step of the way causing this Film to be nothing special and just another average produced money grabber. . This is my biggest issue with the film it is SO GENERIC even the villain and fight scenes were nothing special. My second biggest issue was I hate the narrative of Americans and whites bad Hispanics and other minorities good. STOP INCLUDING THIS IN FILMS it completely takes away from the film, throughout this movie I just had to roll my eyes every now and again and lost my immersion and interest in the film multiple times. My conclusion: This film is average at best I would recommend it for parents who want to get their children out of the house as I am sure most children would enjoy it thoroughly. However if you are an avid superhero fan i WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this film UNLESS you want to review it yourself.
