**Spoilers at the end**
I give this film 3 stars because it was visually beautiful and unique and I enjoyed most of the first 2 acts, but the third act in particular really eliminated the tension that had been built and delivered a very disappointing conclusion. I understood the messaging, I liked the characters, but they were underdeveloped and while I expect a level of ambiguity in a Jordan Peele film I felt like Nope was by far his least well told story. There were some scenes in the first 2/3 that were pretty terrifying but right near the end it all falls apart for me. I still reccomend checking it out, but I would go in with lowered expectations.

For me what lowered my star rating more than anything else was the way the alien creature changed in appearance towards the end of the film. For me personally even though it got larger and obviously still posed a threat, it lost the truly terrifying design it started with. Just the sleek, fast, simple design with the horrifying hole in the bottom that sucks people up into its disturbing interior...and the screams of the people being eaten alive....the blood raining out! The way it morphed into this enormous, elaborate, whimsical looking thing like silk scarves floating through the sky in the middle of the day eliminated the terror for me. There were some story issues and I felt like the characters were underdeveloped, but I could forgive all of that if it was scary and ended well, but for me that's not what happened. Definitely my least favorite Peele film. 😕
