When you’ve watched the pinnacle of what great writing about the human condition can be, along with the best acting and direction on TV - which is what Breaking Bad was. It’s hard to watch another show again that will do justice to the high standards that have been set.
This comparison is what made Better Call Saul feel like it started out slow the first couple episodes (unlike Breaking Bad which had me hooked from Episode 1). However, folks, trust me, Vince Gilligan & Peter Gould (and all the actors & crew involved) create a masterpiece of drama here. Hats off to them for all their efforts into producing these brilliant, nuanced character studies, cinematically beautiful scenes, and one of the most profound love stories I’ve ever had the pleasure to watch. So much said and conveyed at the heart level, without the use of dialogue. Show, don’t tell - a masterclass in visual storytelling. What a pure joy/honor it was to watch masters at their craft, so real & relatable - engrossing to the point of complete merger. Every season more introspective & profound. Thank you, for the art you have given this world - Vince, Peter, and all!
