After watching (suffering to be more precise) the first 20 minutes of "Bodies" I knew for sure that I was watching a true-blue 21st Century British production! In the opening minutes we were treated to a present tense, far-right demonstration awash with angry faced white youth and even a mounted crusader in full regalia, an "innocent" but suspicious looking asian (with a gun) and a grim-faced, headscarfed, muslim police officer who looked ready to single-handedly cuff the lot of them as she imbibed her pint of coke down at her local pub. A flashback to the 1800's revealed a London brisyting with repressed homosexuality including the 1880's equivilant police officer arresting the reporter he simultaneously & secretly desired.
Add to this the monochromatic, tier 3 acting, the stereotypical and devoid of subtle representations of each era and the Beano-esque script and suffice to say that I will not be tuning in to episode 2! The only real surprise of this woke and trope filled garbage was that it seemingly wasn't commissioned and produced by the BBC.
