I read the book first and I loved it. Being from the U.P., and Newberry, the surroundings were familiar and the characters names. The movie had so many changes and missed so much of the intense relationships and life Helena experienced and mother. Weird they targeted her daughter (she had two in the book), that wasn’t the case in the book. Although Helena knew what her father was after. I could go on and on, about the differences between the two, but I’ll leave it at that. The movie was ok! Could have been so much, by staying true to the book.
