Having read Still Life which I loved, I was a little reluctant to read her other books in case they disappointed. I am so glad I read A Year of Marvellous Ways. It's a beautiful story with strong emotions, flawed but sympathetic characters. I loved the ending.

A very different book. Somewhat defies categorisation. I loved the historical perspectives on modern life. Swept along with mystery and touched by the romance.

Outstanding. Every bit as good as it was 50 years ago. Very good portrayal of the seedy side of pre war Berlin, the emerging tensions and the underlying menace. Liza Minela and Joel Grey would get an Oscar today.
