not totally a waste of time drama. there is a good message in this drama. it's about admitting your mistake, apologising to the victims, acknowledging the victims' pain, and most importantly, acknowledging your feelings, pain, and guilt; do not run from reality. that is what this drama trying to convey. and to answer the questions posted by another person, below here is my take. -- SPOILER ALERT -- 1) jo kyung ho is not admitting his pain (childhood, welfare, and his adoptive father who killed himself). he is mad at the society in their hometown as they all turn a blind eye. and he is mad at hyung in because hyung in is involved in his adoptive father's torture. so many people in this drama have their wrong-doing but so many of them forget what they did, not apologizing, the incident as time goes by, it has been forgotten, and victims are being forgotten too. his revenge is based on this. "the past is the next future" my take on this is that the cycle of people forgetting unfortunate events, people not admitting mistakes/crimes, and people killing other people even their loved ones, will be repeating. that is why his experiment about hypnotism is still ongoing even though he is in prison, he is using the lim in gwan as his tools. although that part is really blurry, but the idea is there. 2) the part where the police and junghyun did not communicate is one of the biggest plot holes. this is very typical in k-drama movies, the communication between the victim and the police is always 0. 3) the woman who comes to choi hyung-in house is the spy they (kyung ho/Guru) send to monitor hyung-in, why monitor? because kyung ho regret his decision not to kill hyung-in. although how the representative of the cult (jung young seob) communicates with Guru is blurry. 4) from my understanding, choi hyung-in has no right to continue investigating the cases as the murder cases were handed over to social team. that is why he is alone. 5) Lee Kyung Jin might have watched the video tape (mix tape), that video is the first step to hypnotism, whenever they listened to the audio recorded in the cassette, yes they will kill their family. that is the hypnotism made by Jo Kyung Ho. 6) Hyung-in was affected by hypnotism, which is why he choose to kill Kyungho instead of asking him to remove his memory through another hypnotism. by being imprisoned he will not kill his loved one, which is his daughter, Jae Young. this drama is hard to watch if you are unfocused, when i watch this, i hardly can have a simple conversation with other people or scroll my phone; because almost everything is significant to the message they want to convey.
