A beautiful love story based in friendship and mutual admiration. Despite knowing what was coming it was still an agonizing blow. Achilles’ is portrayed as all godliness and light, with a soft spot only for Patroclus. The writing in this novel is subtle and evocative, and the tension balances so delicately.
