I hadn’t read the book prior to watching this so I really didn’t have any expectations walking into it. But I can honestly say it was a fantastic movie. The characters stories and the relationships they build throughout the movie are truly incredible. The movie focuses in on the boys who they are how they got there. I give it 4 rather than 5 stars due to the few scenes that felt a bit unnecessarily gross, and it being more gore than horror.

I am a very big slasher fan and find most films with this set up great. While I can appreciate what they were trying to do with this movie being a POV from the killer and the cinematography I just couldn’t get behind the constant walking. There was so many uncomfortable periods of basically silence that just didn’t work. I only give it 2 stars because of one particular scene being very well done. But it just didn’t do it for me unfortunately.
