I went into this hoping I could deepen my appreciation for an incredibly talented musician, and found myself disgusted with the documentary. Only lasted 15 minutes before I had to turn it off. I have no doubt that SPS is an awful disease. And feel terrible that she has to battle it…But she’s lived a life that nearly everyone in the world would kill for. Poverty, genocide, human trafficking, slavery… and we’re supposed to feel awful for this story? Her life is a literal fairy tale. She came off self obsessed and as if she needed people to feel bad for her inability to hit high notes? And then followed it up by bragging about her mountains of designer clothing and access to the best healthcare money can buy? I understand that her entire identity revolves around music, but Jesus Christ lady…so many people spend every waking moment of their life putting in the same amount of work towards their music with little to no appreciation from the outside world. Talk about getting high off her own supply. For a pitch perfect singer, this came off as tone deaf, self indulgent trash. Don’t worry about hitting the high notes Celine, we never cared about that. You’ve lost a fan, as I’m sure many more will follow when this “documentary” reaches a broader audience.
