Middle of the road entertainment, the character’s do lack motivation and the love story arcs seem to be forcefully shoehorned in, however… A lot of these fan reviewers are watching this with their adult eyes and never realized how poorly written the movie actually was because they were children. We tend to latch on to these stories and project something of ourselves onto them. We make them part of our identity at a very young age and cannot allow ourselves to see the many faults in the original pictures. I would say the show is 100% on par with the (ugh) film?!

I disagree with all the Gomez hate, Guzman does a great job! True to the original art and concept!

The show has some growing pains in general as first seasons often do, worldbuilding, actors fleshing out their characters and showrunners learning what to focus on, what works and what doesnt. That being said, the show is often gorgeous and the casting choices are spot on. I cannot wait to see the refined direction of an ambitious season 2.
