What this series did well was give the true history of the battles in the Pacific and explore the after effects of war on the soldiers. But it was a little bit hard to get through....
Whereas band of Brothers, the original series, was fast-paced and deep and really held my interest I really struggled with the Pacific. The first five episodes are a bit of a slog to get through. I couldn’t really relate to the main three characters that much and a lot of the story was kind of tedious. By the time we got to the last few episodes it got much better and I wanted to know how all the stories were wrapped up. The cinematography is awesome and the realism is pretty astounding. I just wish there had been more interesting characters and more of a plot to keep things going. It’s still a pretty solid production but I think they missed some opportunities. However, it was a really great history lesson on the war and the hardships faced.
