The books are full of epic, very descriptive accounts of many characters internal experiences. The show has compressed the bones of the story and added bits to highlight drama and give viewers some of the behind the book scenes and back story ideas for some characters. The visuals are cool and I'm enjoying catching the foreshadowing posts.
