Does it stick hardcore to starfleet lore, no not really. But as a movie by itself, I really liked it. I'd watch it again, and I'd watch if they made a second one. All of us could go into detail and I don't want to spend time saying what everyone else already knows and has said, but again, by itself, I thought it was a cool movie.
