I'm giving this five star partly because I don't understand why it has such a low rating. Is it the best? No. But I understand a bit about trauma, and it really wasn't so farfetched for the characters to fixate on pizza, or follow a stranger. Not a lot of action for some. But truer in many ways to real people than much of the sequel. I tend to give single star ratings to movies I can't finish. 3-star maybe to ones that bore me. As a minority opinion, this was neither of those. It has 2.6 stars overall as of this posting, but I'm siding with the reviews who find that unwarranted.

I saw the unrated version. And from what little I could find out, some people prefer the rated version which was toned down--less blood and violence and swearing--to get a PG-13. Is it art? Is it cerebral, and spur me to question the role of AI tech in modern society? No. But it was entertainment and perfect for a Friday night distraction.

Good music, dancing and acting. A girl named Journey. With a personal quest. At Christmas. A gift as bookends. But not about Christmas. More of a "you can do it" pep talk with an iffy premise. Imagine a depressed Willy Wonka, with his spark gone, in a musical motivational seminar, where a little girl's forged letter and deceit are the golden ticket into the magical factory. Which prompts a supposedly responsible adult to send her off alone, to a strange city, in the middle of winter, unsupervised, to visit a Grandpa she has never met. Ignore that and the rest might be fun. "Everything is Possible" with a little white lie here and there.

If you like the concept, watch The Tunnel (France/UK) or the original, which was Denmark/Sweden. The story has been done with some variations using also Estonia/Russia, Malaysia/Singapore and Germany/Austria. And this USA/Mexico was one of the least successful.

Has become Pay-to-Win. No campaign to speak of. I wanted to find a substitute for Rainbow Six, and this is NOT it.

I don't know how to rate this. I give a lot of slack to sci-fi. There are some plot holes and some jumps taken in this, but that's forgivable. For me anyway. But mostly this isn't sci-fi. It's a crime drama with a sci-fi subplot. And as a crime drama, it ended up totally unsatisfying. The sci-fi element couldn't save it. Sidenote: Some reviewers have said that the acting was bad. I disagree. There is only so much an actor can do within the confines of the script and directing. I would look to those instead.

I have tried more than a couple *Lost* clones. But I stuck with two years of the original before I decided it had gone off the rails for me. This one started as a train wreck in the first episode and only got worse.

If you want a movie that is so bad that you watch it just to make fun of it--sort of like Mystery Science Theater-- then this is it. Expect offences of logic, reason, natural science and physics, then watch it for something completely silly to pass the time. Otherwise skip it.

After watching this back-to-back with Vivo, I preferred Vivo. It was fun, and had a good concept, but overall, for me anyway, lacked depth (no pun intended) and didn't go anywhere interesting. Worth watching, and I would recommend it, but personally wasn't very impressed with the overall story and characters.

It's a fine movie for kids to watch. Hunting for treasure. And I spent a third of it trying to like it myself. But quit after half and hour because of--like I find with a lot of Netflix movies-- it felt rushed, with a low budget and bad acting. If more time had been taken with it, it was a good idea overall. For a Netflix kid's movie I would recommend Over the Moon instead.
