I learned two things from the film - firstly, the horrendous injustice of sending a disproportionate amount of black people into the Vietnam war - and secondly, I surprisingly learned just how awfully poor a Spike Lee production can be, a rambling confused hilariously ill-directed poorly scripted farce, a great shame given the seriousness of the subject. My son quite rightly summarised, it’s actually Indiana Jones with a bit more shooting. Spike missed the target with this one, I hope people remember the message and not the awful film.
