I just want to apologize i am not usually someone who comments harshly in a review. I think there are many factors to this behavior which I take responsibility for:
I just woke up 1 hour ago
Haven't had my coffee yet
I am hungry lol
The concept of the story is pretty sweet. Little children can do that. However the writing kinda falls short on what the movie is trying to capture. I agree that the acting needs a bit more work. I was interested when I saw the trailer but when I actually started watching the movie, I first started getting annoyed with the conversation between the chaplain and the criminal. It just feels forced instead of being believable. The script just focused too much on what the actor who plays the chaplain would say rather than what the conversation is trying to emote to the audience.
Then the conversation between the son and mother on the phone. That was pretty pointless. They are just having conversations on what the audience already has an idea on.
I can already imagine, the son/father's role is pretty pointless. After 15 minutes, I have pretty much reached the limit of my annoyance with the characters, not the actors. What's suppose to be entertaining just became "I can't ignore these are characters are just acting and they have very basic communication skills." That's not supposed to come across the viewer's mind if they're watching a movie. If it happens continuously then whats the point in watching?
I dont want to say the actors did a bad job. It is unfortunate because they are the face of this whole movie but because there is a whole team behind this, I feel it is easy to blame the actors. I will say however the writer of this movie really did not use his or her imagination or research in writing this script or maybe they did but it does not explain my disappointment in my already expected flimsy movie.
