First of all, let me start by saying that this is my first ever book review. So, please be kind to my review.
Like many of the other reviewer, I had started this book after watching Bungo Stray Dogs anime, which has made me interested in novels of many of the authors listed in anime.
This was an outstanding novel for a beginner like me as it engrossed me instantly into the peculiar yet fascinating character of "Oba", which I think is based after the author himself.
The story is like none other with themes: alcoholism, depression and, "what is it to be a human?"
The story as it progressed made it more darker and can make you depressed from just reading it, even if you are the most happiest right now. However, that speaks to the captivating nature of the protagonist. He is by no means a normal person, far from it, but is definitely relatable to certain extent. However, his flaws and perception on why he is not fit to be a human, makes it more of a gripping story.
The conclusion left me wanting more and did not provide a satisfying end for me personally, but seeing it is an semi-autobiography, made me research into more about the author.
Overall, a great story and would recommend it instantly as one of the best I have ever read.
