I just finished The New Look and recommend it highly. It’s quite moving and beautifully done. The horrors of war, the chaos of rebuilding, the different masters we must all answer to in our lives, well depicted.
I read Roger Ebert’s review of The New Look. And it seems to me that the show actually exposed the story of Coco Chanel’s collaboration with the Nazis. The things he said were left out are IN THE TV SERIES. All the people who are complaining, did you watch the whole thing?
Also, the Wertheimers didn’t steal from Chanel at the beginning of the war. She had signed a contract that was bad for her, SHE made a bad deal and then blamed them for it. Yes, they later started producing her perfume in NJ, but they had the rights to (most of) it, and it wasn’t possible to produce it in war torn Europe at that time.
