A REALLY AMAZING SHOW....when they aren't making cringey awkward jokes at the wrong time.
No spoilers here. Man, I was watching the first episode live during the watch party and I can't tell you how many times my jaw dropped, or how many times I let out a "OOOOuuuuuhhh!!!!!" when something cool happened. Dude, it felt like 20 times that night I must have went "Ooooouuuu!!!!" hahaha.
There's a lot of dark humor, which can be overbearing and annoying at times, with the occasional home run joke.
SPOILER ALERT: THE REASON FOR THE 4 STARS
Ok, so during the first episode, it shows an isolated classy society, far, far away from the reality of the apocalyptic chaotic wasteland above them. How does a vault girl, who's never hurt anything more than a boatfly, immediately become a hardened, cold blooded and calculated killer, who walks around just fine after just getting a 9 inch filet knife jammed into her kidney. During the first chaotic scene where the raiders invade the vault, it wasn't believable, AT ALL, to me. The way the victims were just so casual during and directly after all the death of the loved ones they grew up and bonded with their whole lives, was very awkward. They even tried to throw a joke in during all of this. What? What is this? A comedy, now?
You guys are leaving a bad taste in peoples mouths with these weird jokes at weird times. The Councilman just witnessed half of his vault die and be stabbed by raiders, and as he's running away, he sees 2 unknowing vault members bringing some jello mold to the party. He screams "GET THE JELLO MOLD OUT OF HERE!" And that was the only line before the raiders come in and start killing people. He was more concerned about some jello mold rather than the 2 peoples lives who had no idea what they were walking into. Why in the hell are they purposefully making this show weird like that? And then seeing Chet casually, and calmly tell this raider that he "doesn't want to use force" was so awkward. I mean this guy just saw the people he grew up with die and he's all cool, calm and collected. What? People would be in shock and freaking the heck out, shaking, crying, screaming, instead the producers decided they would make a comedy out of it. Pick one guys, is it a comedy or a drama?
So yeah, unfortunately, this is no 5 star show. There's a lot of cringe moments, and as I continue watching it, I understand where peoples frustrations lie.
Stop with the cringey jokes and start making these scenes more believable. Spend some actual money on real background actors, next time. Listen to the audience.
