I am shocked so many people have given this five stars. And since they did I assume they didn't watch the entirety of the show. First off, I give two stars for how amazing the animation was along with the quality. Its clear studio trigger did a fantastic job bringing all these fairly complex mechanical things to life. The setting of night city was incredible and brutal. And drew you in right away. All the characters were set up perfectly and made you want to see them develop and grow. But..... there was no growth. Perhaps going into spoilers here but the characters experience a big shock after the show's first half. The main character does develop but not in a way that we see at all because it's in a time skip. It seems that no one has learned everything from this huge event and the main character especially just does the exact same thing that was so similar to what happened in the first part it was painful but also boring to watch. But he does this time and time again throughout the entire show without learning anything. I swear its like no one in the entire show had a brain. And finally the ending. It was cut off short and completely unnecessary. Nothing was gained from this whole adventure nothing was learned. I truly wonder if this was the original story the writer wanted to give or if it was cut short due to a limitation of ten episodes. So final note is the setup and beginning are great. The ending is so painful and boring to watch and discredits this beautiful setting, and wasting of the animation quality that Studio trigger brought to the table.
