The film is Hollywood's twisted version of the the real story of the Biblical account. Evidently, none of the writers, screenwriters, producers, or studio executives ever read the Bible. Moses was a reluctant leader, who was not an eloquent speaker. The child playing God was because a non-believer watching the film would not understand God. The movie plays out in two scenes a 40 year period, blatantly leaving out some of the most significant parts of the entire book.
