First off, I'm giving it a 4 because I personally enjoyed it, so it's more than an average of 3 stars. The first thing that annoyed me was that the dead hardly reacted to anything. Some zombies smell, some follow sounds closely, some are predatory and have good instincts overall, but in this movie, none of that was seen. Zombies felt deaf; the parents (you know whose I'm talking about, not gonna spoil the name) didn't even react to the alarm, they felt single-dimensional and they didn't have good group work like TWD. Loved the professor, great character and the type you definitely want in this genre of movie. Debra dealing with trauma was a bit strange comparing it to others dealing with loss and tragedy, but she was a good character overall. The cameraman, Jason, was really annoying and I didn't feel bad at all when he died. Because of the cameras just shoved into your face, I sort of felt like the whole movie is trying to be a constant critique and an iconography which partially dulled the experience of a zombie movie, which I was looking forward to. The experience of characters felt natural if you think of a world where zombie genre is not known and people are not familiar with the situation. Some moments were a bit filler and unnecessary while there could've been really useful detail added. Last but not least, deaths occur way too quickly while you don't have any attachment to the characters. I honestly didn't feel sad for anyone dying which is not so bad but you still lost many people, so it's unfortunate that the only feeling we get, close to loss, is for the Danish man. Still, a nice experience. NOT a must watch but still pretty decent.
