I actually watched a YouTube short of a clip from the first episode of this show. I recognized the actor from other movies he was in, which I also liked so I decided to figure out the name of the show and downloaded it. I just recently finished the last episode of the only season so far and I'm still unsure how I endured the entire duration without deleting it part of the way instead.
I will say this about the actors though as I truly believe they did as well of job as they could have done, given the circumstances. The problem lies sorely with the writing. Idk if it was a single individual or a team of writers, but either way....yikes! You'd think with such a notable and high profile actor starring in the show that it'd encourage anyone responsible for the writing and storyline to make damn sure it's at least complete.
If you've watched this show already then you probably know what im referring to. This show is actually riddled with the same flaw throughout its entirety. That being said, I'll just explain one of the numerous holes I'm referring to.
(Possible slight spoiler, but very mild)
So the biggest goof that comes to mind is the complete lack of reasoning that explains why the protagonists who work together within the same company seem to be somehow forced to remain at the company even after the big reveal of the antagonists and his role as their new boss. It was really odd to me that the writing team didn't feel the need to address it or felt it wasn't necessary? I'm just guessing though. Once the story develops to introduce the antagonist motives and everything that begins to happen to the protagonists as a result, none of them suggested or even considered simply quitting that job and finding employment elsewhere. Seems like a pretty common reaction if similar circumstances were to happen to most anyone else, right?
It's a pretty simple fix too that adds a bit more realism and completeness to the overall story. For example, simply adding some small detail such as their job is located overseas or in some foreign country which is extremely expensive to travel to and from on a whim or without much of a notice to save up first in order to afford the trip. That's just 1 example and it's probably a weak one at that. Another example could've been some kind of contract legally binding them to remain at their place of employment as leaving prematurely would have costly consequences. Hopefully you get the idea im trying to explain...
There were actually a couple of times I had to stop and check the genre. I wondered if the terrible writing was intentional for comedic reasons or something, but nope.
In conclusion, I think the story had a lot of potential and it's a shame it wasn't fully realized. PersonalIy, I wouldn't recommend this show to any of my friends or family unless I was upset with them for some reason and wanted to get back at them somehow. .
