The filming was visually beautiful. The costumes were correct, too. I don’t think that anyone Emily’s age would have been running around or attending church with their hair unbound and without a bonnet. But, the storyline was nothing short of ridiculous! How could anyone put forth Emily being a great success and having a tea party hosted by their father? Emily was notoriously reclusive and anti social. There has even been speculation that she was on the spectrum. It was Charlotte’s “Jane Eyre” that made the best sellers and had to be reprinted to keep up with demand. Charlotte was actually supporting her sisters with her financial success. “Wuthering Heights” was received with mixed reviews. Jane Eyre was published before Branwell died, too.
