This should be a mandatory viewing, it's not a comfortable watch by any means, it portrays a snapshot of reality for troops captured and enslaved by the Japanese during WW2. It follows Australian soldiers, (although there were Chinese, Indonesians, Koreans, Filipinos, and Indochinese, among other Western prisoners of war.) it's estimated 60,000+ allied soldiers were captured and tortured into forced labour to build the Burmese railway, in addition to 300,000 Asian prisoners of war, by the end of the War; it is estimated only 6 Australian soldiers survived the atrocity.
Our 'aimless' 'fruitless' navel gazing generations have no idea what these brave men experienced, if they had the guts to watch "the Narrow road to the deep North" they might find they feel a little better about their own existence and appreciate Our freedom fought for and won by Men, under orders. My thanks to those souls lost to a rabid, despicable regime. "All Lives Matter".
