This started as beautiful and lyrical adaptation of a favorite book. By episode 8 they gave up on representing the nuanced allegories of the book and decided to substitute a series of shocking and seemingly unrelated images with virtually no narrative breadcrumbs. Even knowing the source material I was lost. I was so happy to see this material explored in film. The beginning was stunning. If there is a 2nd season to cover the 60% of the book that is left, i will tune in.
