This is an extremely important film and an outstanding directorial debut (if it was his debut). This is such an important insight into the horrors of grooming, peadaphilia, technology and family breakdowns. Script, acting, sort and direction was harrowingly accurate

I think it is an incredible insight into the world of childhood abuse and mental illness. There are obvious trauma triggers with Julianne Moore’s character and the suggestion that she was abused herself as a child makes perfect sense, as we see her living in a ‘split body’: 1. Adult (or trying to be) and 2. Child. It is entirely possible that her alleged childhood trauma (or personality disorder if not) leaves her stuck at a seemingly prepubescent age. It is also possible that it was from this place that she could have met Jo as child. Whereas he, at that age was caring for an entire family and seems to maintain that father figure throughout their relationship as he tries to console her when she goes back to ‘being a child’. An interesting finish to the film too. You can see the possibility of either character crashing out from life but you never know who; instead you are left with a vapid actor’s take on a obviously traumatised and turbulent life. A fascinating look into the human psyche.

So unbelievably well thought out is this modern day work of art

Really incredible film. Beautifully directed by David Lynch and definitely a tear jerker into this passing thing we call life..
