I'm from Northern Ireland, I have never ever heard anyone from Northern Ireland speak like Jack O'Connell who plays Blair " Paddy" Mayne, who was from Newtownards, Co.Down.NI. His delivery and meandering accent is laughable,who taught him to speak like that.? Brad Pitt's Irish accent was bad,but O'Connell's is the stuff of nightmares and makes Dick Van Dykes cockney accent in Mary Poppins seem like an oscar winner. O'Connell plays Mayne as some foul mouthed bible thumping,poetry spouting nutter. Well Mayne was a Freemason and undoubtedly not the most mentally stable soldier, but JOC's performance is almost cartoon like,and it's utterly dreadful, bordering on insulting. Blair Mayne was a tall man of 6ft 3, he was quietly spoken, not a ranting loon. His troops respected him,whomever advised O`Connell ( I assume the director ) needs to go and read about Blair Mayne,because this is complete tripe. War is not rock n roll, it`s people fighting and dying. I won`t be watching anymore of this shamefull dross, nor do I suspect those of us that know at least some of the history of the SAS and WWII. Anyone who claims Jack O`Connells shockingly bad portrayal of Paddy Mayne has no clue about acting, or making movies. It is utterly dreadful, as I mentioned before it is insulting to the memory of one of Northern Ireland`s war hero`s. It`s almost as if the director wants Mayne to be portrayed as a drunken Rev Ian Paisley--it`s not funny at all. I would give this zero out of five if I could.

Serious question here, and I am not being sexist, but I would like to know why MOTD now has at least two shrieking female commentators as part of their team ? It`s bad enough having Jonathon Pearce, but the two on recently were so bad, I actually muted the matches. I am not saying they don`t know what they are talking about or the rules etc, it`s the screaming and shrieking, can they not be told to calm it down and stop yelling like banshees or trapped animals ? Also is Alan Shearer a robot ? it used to be Alan Hansen, but now it`s Shearer, always the same old spheel from him " he wanted it more ", " more hunger, more desire " " two good feet " " top drawer finish " " pass and move " " middle of the park " etc.I could go on. Firstly pro football is not played in a park, there are no swings and slides or dog toilets. Too many of these pundits are taking the easy option and not getting the coaching badges, and going into management. They sit in TV studios spouting the same old drivel over and over again. Why do they need 4 or 5 presenters to tell us what we have just seen for ourselves ? Cut down on the presenters and the license fee would be cheaper.
