This was truly a work of art. Minions: Rise of Big Nosed Cranky Man is a film which shows what it's like to be traumatized and also have a big nose. This movie covers topics such as predatory relationships and even schizophrenia. This movie also contains severe Stuart-phobia (/pos).
This is your Spoiler Warning /srs ⟵(๑¯◡¯๑)
As we know, the previous Big Nose Man movies talk about his schizophrenic hallucinations. Specifically his hallucinations of being a feared villain and owning slaved known as "Minions." In the previous Minions movie, we learn about the supposed "backstory" of these Minions: this being the past that Gru created in his mind. In this movie, we see his hallucinations worsen after the events of the first Minions movie.
In a part of his hallucinations, we learn that Gru has been a masochist from childhood, as we see that he enjoys it when an older person ties him up. But why? Simply put, Gru was abused by an adult when he was a child, and he was abused in a sexual way, which is why this occurs in his hallucinations. Some part of the real world seems to seep through.
However, at the end of the movie, this predatory figure is forgiven for his actions. Why? Once again: reality seeps through. This means that someone or something in Gru's life convinced him that this predator was actually "good."
Aside from this, the movie also contains Stuart-phobia. It constantly tortures and demeans Stuart in particular. This may have some tragic meaning about Gru's backstory and hallucinations, I think this Stuart-phobia is great. Stuart sucks. Stuart is the worst of the main 3 Minions. Bob supremacy.
