I absolutely adored this book! Stars That Shine in the Darkness is fabulous! It's filled with stories that focus on the human condition, with issues that everyone can relate to at some point in their lives. The author's worldliness is conveyed beautifully in his stories, and these are followed by thought-provoking study notes that force one to dig deep into their subconscious. There is excellent writing and presentation with unique chapter titles and apt illustrations. I'm especially fond of the author's musings about his daughter, and the chapter on teachers, as it's true that the impact of certain ones stays with you long into adulthood. It's definitely recommended!
There is an eastern feel to the narrative, but that absolutely does not detract or distract, for this westerner.
I would like to keep a hard copy on my bookshelf and use it with some of the young people I work with - but the price is probably too high for my budget - although it is illustrated and beautifully presented. The ebook is fantastic value.
The book had a very good consistency to it with and was set out in both a friendly and youthful way, each chapter begins with an atmospheric illustration and ends with a reflection on the chapter, asking questions to the reader about their learning from the chapter. This style drew me into the book and I found myself getting involved. The book asks thought provoking questions at the end of each chapter like. Have you learned anything from a child today? A question we never ask, or why do people perceive things differently?
This book is easily connectable to all categories across the generations. In my opinion it is must read for youngsters like us.
