I went into this wanting to like it. I usually do like Jimmy Fallon. That’s what makes this so frustrating.
Season 1 was a letdown, full stop.
Jimmy’s presence, which is normally light and charming, became distracting and annoying here. Instead of elevating the creatives, he constantly pulled focus. It felt less like a serious branding competition and more like a prolonged Fallon bit, and not a good one. The tone never settled. Was this a real test of talent or a late-night skit stretched across episodes? The show never decided.
The biggest problem, though, was the ending.
The winner choice was clearly wrong. Not debatable. Not “subjective branding taste.” It was obvious. Bianca winning made no sense. She was consistently annoying and did not demonstrate the level of creative thinking, depth, or execution the show claimed to value. Her win felt manufactured rather than earned.
Ryan, meanwhile, was clearly the standout and the real creative talent. He consistently showed stronger ideas, better instincts, real growth, and actual brand intelligence. Watching the season build toward a finale only to ignore the most deserving competitor was incredibly frustrating.
That’s the real issue. When a competition show breaks trust, it loses the audience. Once that happens, what’s the point?
I regret the time I spent watching this season because the payoff wasn’t just disappointing, it invalidated everything that came before it. And honestly, that experience has turned me off not just this show, but Jimmy Fallon’s projects moving forward.
There’s too much good content out there to waste time on something that feels this unserious and this rigged.
Final takeaway: strong premise, weak execution, the wrong winner, and a host who ultimately got in the way of his own show. I’m out.
