Perhaps Spielberg wanted to make the story more realistic or something, but having grown up with the original I find this version flat and lacking the sharp energy of the original. The Dance at the Gym is a travesty. The framing of the shots of the choreography was terrible…retaining nothing of the magic of the original. I’m glad for those who enjoyed it but for me it was unwatchable.
