Probably the worst movie I've ever watched. Don't show this movie to your children, or anyone.
The main character (Stacy) is extremely unlikeable, and I get that that's the point of the movie, that she's really selfish, but even at the end of the movie when she supposedly makes up for her selfishness, she's still selfish.
Stacy goes to Lydia's house at the end to "apologize" and to beg her to go to her bat mitzvah. Lydia doesn't accept this apology. If Stacy had really matured, she would've understood why Lydia didn't accept it. She wouldn't have interrupted Lydia and continued to beg her to go. I understand that she's still young and that she can still be selfish, but to have her begging be paid off (by having Lydia show up to her bat mitzvah) teaches young viewers the wrong message.
Stacy's "apology" was selfish because she was forcing Lydia to forgive her. If Stacy really became selfless, she would've apologized and been okay with either outcome. She wouldn't have any expectations of Lydia.
This movie teaches kids that by doing the right thing, you'll immediately be rewarded. That is not true. Sure it'll get them to "do the right thing" but they'll only be doing it because they expect something good to happen to them. Also, if doing good things don't always end up benefitting them (which they usually don't), they'll probably get mad and they'll demand for their actions to be rewarded.
People should do the right thing because its the right thing.
The ending should've resulted with Lydia not showing up, and Stacy being understanding of it and okay with it. Or the ending should've just not existed because I don't think this movie should've been made either way.
