Story was all over the place. No thought put into when certain scenes should happen, like character deaths, character behaviour is inconsistent and completely different than what was shown in the first game. It felt like a mess playing.
The graphics are stunning and the gameplay is amazing as well, but the bad outweighs the good.
I tried playing it with an open mind, I truly did, and as a bisexual women I loved that they actually followed on from Ellie being confirmed a lesbian in the side story, but the further I progressed the more I wanted to deinstall the game. There was no joy, every main plottwist felt forced and as if there was no thought put into at all.
Of course, you can argue that the plot twists were bold, unexpected, brave; that it truly shows the consequences of actions, but that is truly the only aspect of this game I could enjoy relating to the story. Every characters actionsfelt like a blow to my head, but not in a good way. It just hurt; but not the kind that makes you want to keep going, but the kind where you just want to put the controller down and come back to it when you’re back in the mood. The ending was also extremely unsatisfying, and also had me very confused about the moral of it all. The game ended with the thoughts of revenge being bad, and that no matter how badly someone hurts you, they’re not worth it. But you can’t convince me that, spoiler alert!!!! Ellie wouldn’t have killed Abby.
So please, take this review with a grain of salt. Chances are you might enjoy this game a lot, but if you’re like me and love being able to truly relate to characters and see them grow, especially having them seen years ago and loving them, then you probably won’t. Joel being killed after not even two hours of gameplay before we even had the chance to even attempt to sympathise with the antagonist and their story, reasoning and desire, makes no sense to me.
I can’t give this game 1 star, I just can’t, but I also can’t give it more than 2.
I advice giving the shot a game. Judge without others input first.
