Someone else encouraged people to trust the 5 star ratings over the 1, and I totally agree. What sense does it make to create a live action version that’s exactly the same as the original? None at all!! If you want to see the original again, WATCH THE ORIGINAL!! Or better yet, acquire whatever credentials and resources needed to make your own live action replica; then watch and praise it. I appreciated and enjoyed EVERYTHING about this production: casting, music, plot, and all of the creative license that made these things possible. When it’s all said and done, this is a children’s movie…yet it’s the adults who have all of the negative commentary, which will likely shape a child’s perception. Melissa McCartney is (and always is) a showstopper, and Halle Bailey did an exceptional job, theatrically AND musically. Bailey shouldn’t be expected to live up to anyone else’s interpretation of the role…especially not an animated character.
