The first timethey took the focus off Laurie(Jamie Lee) and Michael, the story was destroyed. I can remember seeing Halloween 3, which left me speechless lol
John Carpenter showed us a villain that could be real in our own lives. Laurie was a heroine and a survivor of a traumatic family event, not the character for a horror/comedy flick. Personally, I have never been a fan of cheap, gory horror flicks. Maybe the decision was to go this route for a variety of reasons, but I am not a fan. I kept going to see if it would change, especially when Jamie Lee and Will Patton returned in their original roles. I am not a fan of pervasive profanity and sexual content in horror movies either. This story line has gone from teenagers experimenting to teenagers gone wild lol. Laurie was the unique (I have to baby sit/check on your wild friends girl) in the bunch at the beginning, which was the key to her survival. My least favorite scene in the last movie was her (rip open your shirt and show your chest) response to her Granddaughter lol. It just didn’t fit who the original character was to me. I think this story line could have stayed stronger and kept people thinking that Michael and Laurie could just be your next door neighbors. Bringing people closer to the edge is much more intriguing than comedy and close ups on gore. To see my perspective, watch the old horror film “the changeling” with George C. Scott(1980). Jamie Lee and Will, you will always be like the original characters story lines to me. No Jamie Lee and Will means the end of following for me.
