I cannot forget this novel. My literature mistress, Mrs Grace Adjoto of the old Ekpese College, Lamkpese, in Edo-State, popularised the book through her demonstrations when teaching the subject. I still have a mental picture of how she demonstrated bleeding Zara, calling on her lover, after being stabbed by Usman. 'Ilia, Ilia come back'. And Ilia's response, promising not to rest until he avenges her death. Very interesting novel.
