While the incidents around the partition were very sad, and the violence in Bengal become one of the reasons for the partition, the portrayal of characters and the narration of the story by Agnihotri has the intention of hatemonger rather than telling history.
It is no surprise that the motive of the movie is political. Stay away from propaganda. The incidents were triggered by politics and now such movies want to trigger the same nearly a century later.
The same actors are seen in Agnihotri's films because only a few can become of part of political propaganda. Most are flop actors, which shows in this film as well. Kher has his personal hate to present through all these movies, but he has been overrated for many years now as an actor. Chakraborty was always a bad actor, his acting suitable only for masala and b-grade.
The storytelling is a drag. Agnihotri doesn't seem to know what to present for driving the hate. It's just a sequence of hate inspiring incidents, which would be emotional for some and cringe for others.
