This film makes no sense and the characters are all very detestable. It could have been good if it didn't read like an anti-feminist coda. Don't think for yourself, stay with your murderous husband, rationalize his actions, and defend him at all costs. Then also have the audacity to say you made the right choice. The sad part is that it didn't have be that way. We could have rooted for Ms. Dewinter if there was something redeemable about her character and her husband's. In the end it's just a mess of a story with no heroes. I would not call it a love story or even a horror film. It definitely falls into the wannabe thriller genre and that is the only way it exceeds expectations.

It gets a two because the premise is interesting and it's not the worse film I've ever seen. It's akin to a Hallmark movie in terms of tropes. The movie tries to be funny and meaningful but fails. This is due to the lack of coherent plot, poor character development, simplistic transitions, terrible acting, to name a few reasons. The effects and fighting scenes are interesting but never used effectively. Mortal Kombat wants to be Fast and the Furious of fighting movies but ultimately fails. Not a fan of the game but it's disappointing to see the wasted potential.
