Playing the Switch Version of this, I came in skeptical but came out enjoying it almost as much as No Mans Sky.
Some people on here claim to 'kill' monsters but there isnt any to kill. The leviathan and smaller predators are pretty up there and scare factor when you hear them and look around to get godsmacked... however a few hits does stun them or a emp from your vehicle works.
The story is great but at a few times I was left wondering where the next portion was. It took me hours of exploring to find someone and the funny part was that they were very close to where I made my base!
The secondary but more interesting story was great. Scanning and finding certain things unlocked cool stuff and made base building and transporting alot easier. (Recyclotron is a awesome must have!) When you get near the end of finding things in this segment, you get a very useful tool which has no recharge so be careful.
Alot of the tech was great and useful, though expanding the tech further would've been cool, like more fins with abilities or a working mineral detector... that was my only hate point was the mineral detector was useless. If it was a sonar thing that pinged the minerals that would be great but I relied more on the scanner room for tons of resource gathering.
Speaking of which, did you know you can make a 2 section base with a bioreactor and scanner and have all the materials on you? When travelling around I'd bring the mats and plop a base, scan, pick up stuff then pack it all up n move.
The prawn was great but confusing. I used it for o2 regen and heavy mining... not sure why it had weapons at all honestly.
There were alot of crashes though, mostly near when I saved or played more than 2 hours it seemed to crash under not freeing up memory I think? Precautionary measures, I'd save then close the game then start it.
Also I accidentally found the hidden console entry which was weird and the codes work as well, though I decided not to use them in the long run. Just a tip, open inventory then close it to reenable movement.
The last thing I'd like to say is if you want a funny conversation, find the rare sleeper module. I didnt see anyone actually use it in youtube or twitch but its funny.
Overall my experience was enjoyable and loved getting lost in it. Minus the crash issue, and quest location confusion, it is one I'd come back to later and would love more tech to make.
