Never has African-American Historical Fiction been told this way. The creative dexterity to nurture tens of characters, over 250 years, in four continents, is definitely a daunting uphill task to surmount. Yet it was a Mission Accomplished by the author.
Definitely deserves more than the 5-Star; there is finally a worthy successor for 'Roots'.
