Came in to this with high expectations because of Rick’s involvement. Setting aside my grievances for their casting decisions and eager to see how my love for the books would be satiated. First two episodes was really iffy for me but decided to watch the third episode to see if it would improve specially the trios chemistry but I have to say I can’t seem to root for them, the dynamics between them seems lackluster . I understand that there ought to be some changes in making an adaptation but when you promote is as book accurate , please don’t veer off too far from it. One thing I admire about the trio is how their friendship is so complementing, sadly what’s been shown seems like a table read. Couldn’t completely blame the actors as it was the material that was given to them. I love most of Rick Riordans’ work he’s a truly gifted author but not a great screenwriter. Shows pacing is really off, and changes made were not really beneficial to the narrative. Deciding to leave out certain scenes in the book and adding in unnecessary ones really irked me especially those that serve as vital plot points. Had a lot of issues with the movies but on the first three episodes alone I can say that the movies had better pacing.
