Every movie is seen through our personal lens. I personally watch movies about serial killers to try & gain some type of insight into their psyche, motivations/how they became what they were. This movie is a series of disjointed (skipping forward & backward in time) vignettes, offering no insight into the characters, good or bad, with the single exception of the girl who had encountered him before (I left this vague to avoid a spoiler). For me, she was the only victim portrayed in the movie who offered up any true background or emotional connection for the viewer. I agree with others who pointed out that the wrong person was chosen as the primary thread/main protagonist, feeling both she, and/or the girl he was with when caught, would have served better.
